Being There Salford Volunteer Les Whalley was nominated for a Heart of Salford 2016 Award. The Heart of Salford Awards are Salford CVS and Volunteer Centre Salford’s prestigious annual ceremony to celebrate volunteering. A firm favourite in the volunteering calendar this event acknowledges the vast contribution made by volunteers and organisations in Salford.

Les represented our volunteer team at the award ceremony on 5th December attending with Being There Salford Volunteers’ Manager Margaret Carleton. Les has been supporting our clients on a one-to-one basis as well as volunteering at the twice monthly Being There Salford social and support group. Les also volunteered to be filmed by the BBC for our website information films and for BBC Breakfast on their recent ‘Shine a Light on Cancer’ series.

We would like to thank Les and all his fellow Being There volunteers who provide countless hours of support to our clients and staff.
