A band night held by Eagley Brass Band in aid of CALL and Bolton Hospital was a resounding success, with all of attendees enjoying a night of music and entertainment.
A commemorative baton presented to William Wood by Eagley Brass Band in 1889 was passed back to the band, courtesy of CALL’s president Tom Brown, who is distantly related to Mr Wood through his grandmother’s second husband.
Tom Brown commented: “I was left the baton by my grandmother when she died, and she had received it from her husband, who had the baton handed down from his father. He was presented with the baton in 1889 by Eagley Brass Band.
“Once I’d tracked down this information I thought it would be great if we could get together with them for a fundraising night and to present them with the baton.”
