Being There can support you in a number of ways to help you manage your illness. We can provide emotional support – someone to talk to when you feel like it, practical help at home, support groups and outings, support and transport to hospital appointments.
Being There has offices in North and South Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Tameside. Our staff and volunteers are friendly, approachable and ready to listen to your concerns whether you are living with a life-limiting illness yourself or are in a caring role.
So, if you have cancer, a heart or respiratory condition or have had a stroke, or are caring for someone with one of these conditions, or have a family member or close friend who has been diagnosed with one, find out more about these services:
Being There staff may be very busy out in the community so it is not always possible to take all calls in person, but be assured if a message and contact details are left someone will be in touch to discuss your concerns and requirements as soon as possible.
We also have a dedicated section for health and social care professionals with information about how Being There can support your patients and clients.
Being There provides a number of ‘get togethers’ for people with cancer, carers and family members living in Greater Manchester. These are informal group sessions where people can mix and have a chat. The atmosphere is supportive and relaxed. Sometimes the groups have talks from external speakers as well as relaxation or arts sessions. Transport and refreshments are provided (suggested donation £4). At various times of year the groups also go out on accompanied day trips to places of interest in the North West.
